C4T #4 Summary Post

On week 1, I commented on Amendment 6 by Kevin on  Anthony Capps Class Blog. In my comment, I agreed to the fact that the sixth amendment should protect us when we need a lawyer to defend us in our cases and our rights as citizens of the United States.

Sixth Amendment

On week 2, I commented on Amendment 9 by Dana on Anthony Capps Class Blog. In my comment, I agreed that the ninth amendment gives the citizens of the United States to have rights that are not listed in the Constitution. There are many examples that go together with this amendment. The Constitution does not have an amendment for the citizens of the United States to choose a job, to get married, or to have children because the citizens of the United States have those rights to do these things when they want to.

Blog Post #13

This week's blog post was very challenging, yet interesting for me because on the days I do not have class or work to do, I am watching television and on my laptop on a daily basis. When I'm on my laptop, I listen to music as well because music makes me feel calm and helps me concentrate when I'm multitasking as well. To make it through this blog post, i will read a lot of books to avoid using any type of technology. Also, I will go out with friends instead of using a cell phone to communicate. I am not a big fan of using house phones because I have no privacy when I'm on the phone.

Report on Final Project

 Work in Progress

For my final project, I partnered with Kristen Cobbs. We have been keeping in contact with one another through e-mails. We have met in person twice to talk about projects 15 and 16. For project 15, we have decided to do a lesson plan for kindergarten on the four seasons of the year. For project 16, we have been discussing our different ideas, but we have not yet decided on what we are going to do.

Creativity and Curiosity: My Thoughts- Special Post # 12A

Creativity

Curiosity and creativity are two essential skills that young children have. In classrooms, creativity is not used because teachers only go by what's on the curriculum, which is the main reason why creativity is forgotten. Creativity is the last thing the teachers are worried about. I strongly believe that creativity is not getting any attention in the classrooms. The creativity of children can be used in any subject.

Curiosity Gave Life To Creativity

Curious George
I do not believe that schools intended to destroy the creativity and curiosity of children on purpose. I strongly believe that schools and teachers put so much more focus on teaching the students what they need to learn  that curiosity and creativity is not important to them. When a child is in  kindergarten, the child does not know what shy means. As the children become older, they become more restrained to talking loud in class.Another belief that kills the creativity of students is the grading system. For some children, taking tests can be stressful, which will result in the children not performing as well on the test. If the children receive a bad test grade, they can become easily sad, and have the feeling they failed. Most teachers often use different projects for the children to    express themselves.

Think Outside the Box QuoteI have a strong feeling that schools are the main source of why children lost their curiosity. If teachers are in the front of their classes, giving them information needed for a test, why would the children opted into learning      anything else? This viewpoint is how the majority of students think. When students think this way, there is no incentive to be curious for the students to learn on their own. Teachers should create their tests based on what they teach instead of trying to figure out what to teach.Class discussions should be added as well to get viewpoints of other students. If a student has a question, the teacher should tell the student to research the question, and bring the answer to the question on the next day. A curriculum should be create to motivate the curiosity of the students. The curriculum should have activities that requires the students to draw and/or color, and writing activities as well. For example, if the students are learning about American Indians in history, imagine yourself as an American Indian chief, and describe how a typical day would go on. This kind of an assignment will bring out the creativity in students, which makes them think about what they are learning. Teachers can contribute to the curiosity and the creativity of their students by engaging their  students to think outside the box.

Blog Post #12

For my blog post 12 assignment, I choose Kathy Cassidy's Class Blog. I have recently done an assignment pertaining to her skype conversation with University of South Alabama's EDM310's teacher, Dr.Strange. For the assignment, the instructions are to read either one of the post on the class blog, and comment on the blog you read.

For this blog post assignment, I commented on the Easter Craft  from Kathy Cassidy's Class Blog. In my comment, I mentioned that the students did an excellent job with painting their eater eggs using Sandra's special paint. Also, I mentioned that the project was a great project for the students to become creative with Sandra's paint.

C4K #3 Summary Post For April

Family and Friends Quote
Week One
On Rachel's Blog, I commented on her "Weekend" post. In my comment, I said that I hope her plans for this weekend go as planned. Also, I said that there's nothing like spending quality time with family and friends. And last, I asked her the question, "Do you have interest in cheerleading and dancing?"

CheerleaderPeople Dancing at A Party

Week Two
Bring It On Movie Series
On the same blog and post, I mentioned my favorite dance movie series, "Bring It On". I mentioned my favorite dancing show, Randy Jackson's America's Best Dance Crew", which brings dance crews from all over the world to compete for the "America's Best Dance Crew" title. I mentioned that I play zumba fitness, wii fit, and wii fit plus on my wii. I also mentioned that I'm not a good dancer, but I like to see the dance moves of  cheer leaders and dance crews. I love all kinds of dance movies, but "Bring It On" series is my favorite.

Week Three
Wii FitOn this week's comment, I mentioned my 3 favorite activities on the wii fit plus games, which are the parade game, the punching game, and the dancing game.

On the last C4K, I left a comment on
Visit to Butterfly Creek Video. In my comment, I mentioned that I never seen that many butterflies in one place. Also, I mentioned that I would love to take my students to Butterfly Creek. I have never had the chance to see anything like this. In my junior year in high school, I went to Washington, D.C. to get a closer look at how the government works, which is the farthest I have been from home. My trip to the nation's capital was with involved with other students worldwide and about 2 or 3 others form my high school. I will cherish the moments I had on this trip because I made lifelong friends with some of the students from other
countries.

Blog Post #11

In the Little Kids, Big Potential Video, the students tell and show you how they use blogs, a classroom webpage, wikis, video, Skype, and Nintendo DS to share, collaborate, and learn in their classroom.I was really amazed with the different ways the students learn and how to interact with other people. The students showed how much they loved to use technology in their classroom, which is what  I enjoyed watching in this video. This video explains how important it is to comment on every C4K assignment every week.

 Ms. Cassidy's Skype Interview
Ms.Cassidy is a first grade teacher from Canada, and she uses technology in her classroom. I strongly agree with Ms. Cassidy that students learn better when technology is involved, than they do with a teacher with teaching them something. I believe that students learn better when they do the work themselves rather than the teacher telling them how to do the work. I believe that student blogs is the best way for students to communicate with other people and to improve in their writing skills. The benefit of having student blogs is that the parents can see the work of their child. In order for the parents to see their child's work, they will need the website to their child's class blog. This idea is a great benefit for the parents because the parents will not have to go to their child's school to see what their child is learning, what they are learning or how they are doing in class.
In my opinion, I believe there are several benefits of using technology in the classroom. The most important benefit of using technology in the classroom is that the students are learning. Blogging or Skyping with others is a fun and creative way for the students to learn. The students might not realize they learning, but in the midst of it all, they are learning. The second most important benefit of using technology in the classroom is that the students are networking, which is an amazing way to meet new people. This benefit will help the students by giving them the opportunity to see how a person writes or to see what a person is doing in a universal way. The third most important benefit of using technology is that the the parents can see the work of their child. In order for the parents to see their child's work, they will need the website to their child's class blog. This idea is a great benefit for the parents because the parents will not have to go to their child's school to see what their child is learning, what they are learning or how they are doing in class.

Blog Post # 10

Educate or Teach by pierre72
Enrich, Educate, EntertainThis video compares and describes what it means to teach and to educate. The description of to teach was described as  to give information out and to explain. The description of to teach was described as someone who mentors, empowers, and someone who inspires. This video helped me figure out the difference between to teach and to educate. Many people, including me, think that to teach and to educate have the same meaning. My role as a teacher is to clearly explain each lesson to the students and to be a mentor to my students.

Pencil

Don't Let Them Take Pencils Home by John Spencer
When I first saw this blog, I quickly went to the blog assignment until I got to the blog post for this week. For this blog assignment, the name that was on the assignment was Tom Johnson instead of John Spencer. Is the author of this blog a mistake in the blog section of the manual?

In this post, John is having somewhat a debate with Gertrude, the school's curriculum interventionist academic  specialist, about having his students take home pencils. Gertrude puts the focus of having students taking pencils home have lowered standardized test scores. John insisted that having students taking pencils home to do pencil and paper homework does not affect how the students score on standardized tests. The main problem was what the students are doing with pencils while at home instead of being about having pencil and paper homework assignments. Even though John disagrees with Gertrude, he tries to figure out a solution that will put the parents of the students involved to explain how to use pencils in learning. Having technology around can result in low scores on standardized test as well because students in classrooms these days are becoming more and more technical independent.

Mr. McClung's World
On Mr.McClung's May 27, 2009 post,  I commented that I really enjoyed reading the post because he posts his personal story of his first year and what he has learned. The story was very enlighten to me because I love to hear other's personal experience. From reading this post, I understand why blogging is important in education.

 I Love Blogging

On his June 15, 2010 post, I commented that his second year post is somewhat a reflection to the first post. When I become a teacher, I want to be the type of educator that inspires students to learn, study, and communicate with other students.

C4T #3 Summary

Trails Optional: Jen Deyenberg's Journey Through Teaching with Technology
In most recent post, she created a  Prezi: Games Based on Learning. In my comment, I wrote that the fact of using games to expand learning in subjects, such as math.  I commented on the way the details were in the monopoly cards around the monopoly game board, which is a very creative way to point out the details. I also commented on the information on the monopoly cards. I never understood the concept of the game of monopoly, but I sure will like to learn how to play the game because the looks fun and interesting to play.I didn't get the experience of playing board games when I was a child.

Board Games

In her second most recent post, I commented on how informational the post was. After 3 years at the University of Lethbridge, she talks about her final days of
studying leadership, education, and technology. The program was based on 3 pillars, which are 1. Leadership and Management, 2. Education and Pedagogy, and 3. Technological Expertise and Network Design. Master of Education  is a website that has courses that are needed to receive a Master's degree in Education. The class that is going to be taught over that Jen took is "Information Technology Leadership." On her final project, she focused on :Writing and the Web," which  is based on how technology and the internet are changing the ways we write.  The Changing Writing Process is a link of  Jen's, which  discusses how the writing process has changed through the internet. The Impact of Learning is another link of Jen's, which is based on how technology can impact on learning.

C4K #2 Summary Post For March

Amendment 2

Yosemite-Sam
In Molly Smith Class Blog, I commented on the argument on changing the second amendment of the Bill of Rights. In today's society, people are using firearms to kill, threaten, or scare people, which is not the right way to use firearms. This amendment was made by the founding fathers to protect ourselves.

Scary SpiderIn Sarah Stones'Class Blog, I commented on Zara's Post. In her post, she talks about Amy's adventurous camping trip her dad planned for her and her mom because her dad to complete a task for his job. The next morning, Amy's mom was terrified by the spiders in the tent, run to her husband, and told him its time to go home. I would be terrified about the spiders too because I do not like bugs or anything in that nature. On the post, I commented on the creativity of the story line and the emotions towards the spiders in the tent.

Blog Post #8

Richard MillerThis Is How We Dream by Richard Miller
Richard Miller holds the position as an English professor at Rutgers Schools of Arts and Sciences.Miller has a passion for books. With his expression, he says that communication is not the same as it use to be. In a two-part video, he discusses how writing with computers will impact one's culture and the two changes, which are incremental and fundamental.
In the first incremental change of the video, Miller talks about where people are working as of now. He states that people no longer do work in libraries, or writing with paper and pencil, but our laptops. As I begin to think about the statement, I begin to think to myself when was the last time I went to a library to do an assignment before this week. The last time i went to a library was when I went to check on two books I wanted to check out. I have not been to a library recently to do an assignment. With the usage of my personal laptop, my chances of going to a library to do assignments have slimmed down. My work space is in the comfort of my room at parents' house. Having a personal laptop makes everything I need accessible.
In the second incremental change of the video, he points out that people are able to combine things when using networking technology. Using pictures and videos with text makes learning more engaging and hands-on. The example Miller used with this change was Martin Luther King, Jr.. With King's information, King was able to find information on the internet as well as information that was around the campus.
Miller's definition of fundamental change is something that makes it possible. He believes that the main focus should be "how we work" instead of  "where we work".I never understood the difference of the two until  I watched the video.

Carly Pugh Blog Post # 12
Carly Pugh PictureShe is a former EDM310 student at the University of South Alabama. She has done an outstanding job on putting Dr.Miller's examples and advice to a great extent. She created a playlist project that requires students to make a playlist with a limit of 10 YouTube videos. This is a great assignment to become a better a multimedia writer and to become better with the usage of multimedia tools, which is how Miller defines as collaborative learning. She believes that videos is the best way to get to interested in the assignments. I believe  that if you can be visually creative, then more information can be learned rather than just doing a writing assignment. In the Six Questions For Everyday video, she shares some questions that were just amazing to me. Some of the questions were inspirational to remember as a future teacher and as an individual.

Chipper Series
The chipper series was interesting because I had laughed throughout the series. In the series, Chipper is a student that thinks that she can get by just to get by. Even though she's looking for a easy way out, she expects herself to be the best of everyone. You have to work very hard to become the best of everyone. The EDM310 For Dummies video was my favorite video for this assignment because I was overwhelmed after the first couple of weeks because I realized that I really needed to have a timed scheduled to make sure I don't fall to far behind, which I intend to do sometimes.

BrainstormAs I began to brainstorm on some ideas on how to create a video,  I began to think about how I felt when I walked into EDM310 on day one, and the impact that EDM310 put on me as an individual and as a future teacher after taking the course. EDM310 has empowered me to learn things I never knew about such as blogger. Blogger is the best way to make a blog, and i will use it us a reference when it time for me start teaching.  I love going to my blog to see what people across the world and classmates say about my work. I love to blog. When i came into EDM310, I l was thinking to myself  "what have i gotten myself into?" Rumors were told to me that  EDM310 is a nightmare class. I believe that at first, I was getting freaked out about the class because of  the rumor. But now, I can say that EDM310 has made me a better learner and individual. EDM310 gives me the knowledge to express my feelings on the assignments.I love to express how I feel.

Learn\

Learn To Change, Change To Learn
In this video, there a number of successful individuals in the field of education that discussed the need of change in classrooms, and there were valid points made that were amazing to me. One point that hooked me was "U.S. Department of Commerce, which ranked 55 industry sectors by their level of IT intensiveness. Education was ranked at 55, which is the lowest under coal mining." This statement tells us that it's time for major adjustments in classrooms.

Scavenger 2.0
When  I looked at the introductory video on Discoveryeducation.com, I was amazed.
Edmodo Logo
Education's Social
Network
The first tool I was assigned to look for was a tool similar to Facebook and Twitter. I found the tool Edmodo, which can be very accessible for parents and teachers, and is easy to sign-up for. This site is similar to Facebook, but isn't as busy as Facebook, which will the give the students time to be more focused. Teachers can make a wide variety of assignments, such as quizzes. They can also keep up with grades of their students on the assignments completed through Edmodo. This tool will be added to my PLN because this tool can be used in many of ways in my future.

Animoto LogoNext, I had to chose a video tool. I chose Animoto. This video tool is free to sign-up for, which is always a plus. The disadvanteage of this video tool is that you can only make a 30 second video for free. If you want the full version, you have to pay about  from $5.00 to $39.00.

Poll Everywhere LogoThe last thing I had to hunt for was a tool where I could come up with a poll that can used anytime and anywhere. I chose Polls Everywhere. I found that this tool is amazing. Its easy to use, too. You can access these polls from any electronic device that has internet connection. This tool can be used for educators and for your personal use.

Project #10- PLN 1st and Final Report

Symbaloo Logo

In my first report for my Personal Learning Network (PLN), I decided to use Symbaloo. At first, it was challenging. I categorized my interests by color. I have my social media accounts on there as well. I put  my mail accounts on there. I really love using symbaloo.I have my EDM310 class blog on my PLN as well.

In my final report for my PLN, I changed some of the colors of the tiles. I found easier to use Symabaloo because you can put all of your interests and hobbies on there.

C4T #2 Summary

Problem SolvingOn David Wees Blog, I left a comment on his most recent blog, which talks about letting your students a fix a problem by theirselves, even though the teacher (you) saw the problem beforehand.  I believe that letting students fix problems is a great idea and a great way for students to learn how to problem solve an issue. In this post he mention a phrase, "Be Less Helpful", which I liked because it gives the students the opportunity to become problem-solvers with various cases, whether in class, having fun with family and friends, or at home. In the update, Even though the student's solution to keeping the poster to stay  had failed, the problem gave the student some feedback directly whether to as the solution to the problem  worked or not.

Social MediaOn David Wees Blog, I commented on a post titled, "What is the purpose of Social Media?"I believe that people should make their social media pages visual only to people they know. In my comment, I mentioned that people put too much information on social media pages. The social media world can either make you or break you when you comment on a picture, a link, or a status update of someone.People need to be careful on what they write on social pages because what you write will stay  on the internet forever.

Blog Post#7

Students Using Computers To Learn To me,the Networked Student Video explains how easy it is  to find new learning tools. It is a great example of how we can virtually connect with other people. This video is similar to   EDM 310, which is taught by Dr.Strange at the University of South Alabama because they both both explain the purpose of technology and how students and teachers can learn.  I loved the use of the pictures in the video because the pictures grabs the viewer's attention and gives out the information in the video. Throughout the video, the information given was thoughtful and meaningful.  As a future educator, I need to stay current on  available technology and maintain my relevance as we go further in the quest to integrate technology into classrooms. The information that was provided in this video points out that there still should be teachers in the classrooms, no matter how much  technology there is in the world. I think as long as teachers continue to learn, they can challenge their students.

The PLE Video helped me categorized my favorite items by color. At first, it was difficult to find them. But now, I figured out that there is search engine to find your interest.

Blog Post #6

In Randy Pausch's Last Lecture,  the discussions he talks about are: 1. My Childhood Dreams and how he accomplished them, 2. Enabling The Dreams Of Others, and  3. How You Can Achieve Your Dreams Or  Enable The Dreams Of Others. I believe that making others' dreams come true is fun to do because you can accomplish your dreams as well, which is amazing.

In his first discussion, he talks about how he fulfilled his childhood dreams. He talks about not finding  pictures of him smiling.  The only childhood memories I have are my baby pictures and a trophy for playing tee-ball. When you set your mind  to do something, you should do it your best because anything is possible. To achieve a dream, you have to be willing to do the work, whether the work is hard, simple, big, or small. Childhood dreams are something a child can cherish forever. Also, childhood dreams are memories that children should remember forever to tell their children.During the discussion, he mentioned "Experience is what you get when you didn't get what you wanted." This quote stuck in my mind because most of my teen-aged life,  my  experiences have given me things I didn't want to have in my life. Brick walls are in our lives to give us a chance to show how badly we want something. Also, the brick walls are there to stop the people who do not want something as badly as you do. I have had many brick walls in my life, and there are more coming. Brick walls are like trials and tribulations to me. Is this true? In a quote from Jon Snoddy, "Wait long enough, and people will surprise and impress you," which is true because there are some people in my life that I couldn't trust at all, but I took the time to get the trust I needed from those people because I gave the people time to surprise me. I loved the "Hello World" animated video because of how all the images were created with the guy just moving his hands around in a certain way, which is very creative. The ending was the best part because the girl was done with the video, but the characters didn't want it to be over. So, the lady hits Alt, Ctrl, and delete to end the video. The characters got upset  with her, and the whole video goes into a vortex, which is another great ending part of the video. The gift of making other people feel happy and excited about something you have created for them to see is an amazing gift to have.

The second discussion was about enabling others' dreams. When you achieve your dreams, you  know how to enable the dreams of others because you have achieved your dreams.

The third discussion was about what lessons are learned when you enable the dreams of others. There are aspects of how to achieve your dreams. Focusing on other people when you need help is a great way to make new friends.A great example is when Randy brought out a cake for his wife's late birthday, and he and the audience sang happy birthday to her. You can find the best inside of people if you wait long enough. The "head fake" of this video  is "if you live your life the right way, the karma will take care of it, and the dreams will come to you".

Throughout the video, Randy gives advice on how students can achieve their dreams and personal goals.

Project #7- C4K Summary For February

For my C4K #1 assignment, my student was Iisha S.In her most recent post, she's talking about a trip her and her family went to the national park during her Christmas break. I really like her most recent blog post because it was humorous and serious at the same time. In the first paragraph, her sister "threw up"  on the train, and it ended up on a man, which is really gross because I dislike vomit, and it stinks really bad. I bet Iisha was getting sick to her stomach when this happened. In the second paragraph of her blog post, she talks about the fact of her looking at constellations instead of not going to the national park because the weather  forecast people had predicted that  were going to be possible flash flood. I like the fact that see was looking at constellations because I like looking at the stars. My family is just like her cousins she mentions in her third paragraph because they are annoying and crazy at most times.I really enjoyed reading Iisha's blog post.

For my C4K #2 assignment, I left a comment on Verona Gridley's class blog. On their most recent class blog, the students colored their drawings of dolphins over the sunsets. With their drawings, the students colored their drawings with crayon colors, such as orange and blue. I loved the colored drawings because I love dolphins, and the sunsets over the dolphins is just a breath-taking moment for me.

For my C4K #3 assignment, I left a comment on Zarah's Blog, which was on a story titled "7 Chairs". In my comment, I said the story is historical because the seven chairs belonged to the mayor of Ottawa. The mayor likes magic. Zarah figured the history of the seven chairs when he found the book based on the seven chairs.

1. In Don't Teach Your Kids This Stuff,I found it very sarcastic but in depth of what the real facts are. I really enjoyed reading your post.Your post got me thinking on the future education for children through technology. If taught by the educators correctly to the students, they will be able to understand the rights and wrongs of technology.A lot of what people do can be considered a risk, even walking down the block.Technology being a part of education can help better future opportunities. In most cases technology  is a good thing, but in some cases, there are certain people that make it very dangerous.any companies have developed new software that makes the internet safer for children.along with software if the teachers and parents are more aware of the websties there children are visiting and who they are communicating with then chances are they will be safe also. I totally agree with keeping paper and pencil in the classrooms as well because I love the traditional way as well as the technology way.

2. In iSchool Initiative, I agree with the idea of using iSchool Apps, but children need to use the traditional schooling as well. The traditional schooling helps students with communicating with teachers and other students. In my opinion, I believe that iSchools can be used when a students is out sick. I also believe that traditional and iSchool Apps can be used together.
In ZeitgeistYoungMinds Entry, I believe that iSchool Initiative will make education better for future     teachers as well students.

3. In Eric Whitacre's Virtual Choir, I was amazed when I viewed the video. In the internet and technology worlds, anything and everything is possible to do no matter how close or how far you are from people. I love the vocals of the people and how they sing as one.

4. In Teaching in the 21st Cetury, I really liked the fact that the video discusses entertainment and engagement with various meanings. I believe that Ken Robinson believes that teaching is changing in many ways in which I cannot explain because the video confused me a little. If I may ask, "What are your opinions on this video?"

5. In Reading Rockets, I love the fact that this website has tools on how to teach reading and the strategies of teaching reading. The website has various resources that can help students with reading. The resources that would be valuagle to me are the video and podcasts, classroom strategies, the ABCs of teaching reading, and helping struggling readers. This website will benefit to me because I love to read.

The Benefits of Podcasting in the Classroom
This video interested me because I did not have knowledge of doing or using podcast. From this video, I learned that students that do not  attend school on days that the students can look at their teachers' notes if the teacher does podcast. This video is very beneficial. Thanks for sharing this video, Joe Dale.

Judy Scharf Podcast Collection
Tihis website by Judy identifies what a podcast is, which I did not have a clue until i glanced at the definition. The website also has two links: one is a YouTube video on  how to make a podcast using Audacity. What is Audacity? And the other other is link is an informational video from TeacherTube. I am overwhelmed on how many "Tube" sites they are over the worldwide web. Does anybody have an idea on how many "Tube" videos they are?

Langwitches
This website has information on 1st greaders making an Audiobook and a podcast. I love to see students using their minds to learn other things besides on video games. I am not saying that all video games are bad. This is an amazing website.

Blog Post #3

Peer Editing Video
The information in each video was very informational for me because now, I can become a better blogger than I was in the beginning of EDM310. I will take heed to this information by using the tips and the pointers to improve my blogging experience to the next level. One the first day of EDM310,I had random thoughts going on my mind, such as how am I going to in this class and will I make through this class. But now that I think about it,I'm going to great in EDM310 because there is a lot of support for students to make it through EDM310. Rumors from previous classmates about the teacher and the class were that the teacher is hard to deal with, which I hardly believe. Dr. Strange pushes his students to motivate them to become teachers is what I believe. He is a great.Even though I'm talking about EDM and its supporters, I believe that I have commented on the videos as well.I would like to thank Paige Ellis again for her video on peer editing.

Technology In Special Education
I enjoyed this video because it is true that special needs students can learn with technology the same way that regular students can. Also, having special needs students around a technologically classroom environment can help them exceed in class. Many regular students use technology the same way that the special needs students  do in this video. I believe that special needs students need extra attention to understand what is being learned in class. There are even regular students that problems with learning. My youngest brother is a regular fifth grade student, but he has problems with paying attention in class, and he loses his focus when it comes to classwork and homework. What I'm trying is that  regular students sometimes need extra attention even though special needs students have disorders. Technology affects special needs students by helping them improve their educational skills the same as regular students. If I had a class of special needs students, I would use technology by making a website for the class and put different assignments for them to do, such as classwork, homework, presentations, and quizzes.I like the fact that the teacher in the video made a website as well. In my opinion, technology for the special needs students is a sense of help for them.

How The Ipad Works With Academics For Autism
This video informed me how the Ipad works, and as well as how it helps  autistic  students how to improve academically. This video put me in a moving state of mind because Brayden accomplished many academic subjects, such as counting pictures and writing words. As Brayden was counting each picture  and saying each word, I must say I almost cried when I saw the excitement in Brayden's eyes and voice. When I went to the apps for Ipad for education link, I clicked on one of the language arts apps, and the screen didn't show me the apps. What should I do?

Social Media
In the image on this page, I was amazed how the numbers automatically changed when something happens that is on the list. The top things I do on the "media counts" are watching YouTube videos, Facebook, and Twitter.I recently got the hang of using Twitter, which isn't as hard as I though. As I was on the website, I started to click on the various tabs on the "social media counts", and I realized that there are far more numbers than I thought. I have two words to say, "Wow and Amazing"!!! I would like to thank Gary for making this website to inform the U.S. about what is changing around the U.S.

A Vision of Students Today
Honestly, this video was something I already knew. So, that's my comment on the video. The video was informational, but bored at times.I got the point of the video, which is that teachers today are not using technology as much as the students intend them to.What do you think about comment? Do you agree or disagree, and why?

C4T #1 Summary

In David Hopkins most recent post, he talks about a conference he attended in Olympia on January 25 and January 26. On the post, I commented on the way the delegates at the conference were sharing and bringing their ideas together to find ways to make education more interesting for children. Also,I commented on the lego ducks, which were created by the delegates when Jacob Kragh (Lego Education President). I really liked his most recent blog because I love the fact that educators worldwide are coming together to education better for the future generation. The delegates talk about other things at the conference, but I did not understand the concept of the topics.

Basically,in his second most recent post,he's talking about the usage of apps on iphones and on laptops. On his blog, I posted on the difficulties I have with the useage of twitter, which is improving as I use it on a daily basis with EDM310.Other issues he talks about are the difficulties of using apps on different OS (operating systems).I left a comment on my usage of Google and Safari on a daily basis. He talks about iOS, which I do not know what it is. In confusion,I commented by asking the question, "Is an iOS a type of operating system?" I am guessing that an iOS is a type of operating system. Afterwards, I commented my answer with the question, "Am I correct?"

Did You Know?

Did You Know? Video
1. In the original video by Karl Fisch and Scott McLeod,I was not amazed about the facts and the numbers behind it. I knew of most of the facts, but, I did not know how the numbers are calculated for the facts. You have to really be on your math and knowledge game to know the numbers behind the facts mentioned. I would not be able to figure out the numbers. The numbers for each fact surprised me. In the past, I have thought of most of the facts mentioned. The future is going to be interesting for the world because every number mentioned will be even bigger than expected. In the Strange version of  "Did You Know?", I realized that the numbers and facts were compared to the students in previous EDM310 classes and high school students, such as cellphones and computers. I am not amazed about the numbers on computers and cellphones because every person in my household has his/her own personal laptop and cellphone, even my 10 year old brother.I have been searching for a job every since my high school , and I have not found one, which means I highly agree with the facts about jobs in both videos.

Mr.Winkle Wakes
Mr. Winkle Wakes

2. In this video, created by Matthew Needleman, I definitely can relate to the ways that Mr.Winkle felt when he walked in those places. When he walked in the office, he was aggravated with the constant printing of paper from the machine. When he left from there, he went to the hospital and saw a machine he did not recognize, such as x-ray machines. I can relate to this part of the video because I do not like going to hospitals because someone very close to me stayed in and out of the hospitals. Every time I went to visit, that person felt weaker and weaker.I do not like hospitals sometimes because I do not like to see loved ones or people in pain. I  get so emotional at hospitals that I have to leave the hospital to calm myself down to not show my emotions. I do not like  crying in front of people, but now, I just let myself cry in front of  loved ones because crying can mean  various feelings (laughter, joy, pain). When Mr. Winkle went inside the school, he became aware of the environment. I can relate to this part because I have been to school everyday since preschool. To me, it seems school is all I do, which is a good thing because nowadays, education is everything and your lifeline to you. In my opinion, I think that Mr.Winkle did not want anything to change in the world while he was asleep. Like Mr.Winkle, I was afraid of change. But as I grew older, I found out that change is good in most situations. As I grew up,things began changing in my life that I was not ready for, but I had to change to get on with my life.

The Importance of Creativity
Ken Robinson3.I watched this video when I was Baggett's class last semester. This video has a variety of information on how technology is making creativity worse for students when they are at school. To me, I believe that Sir Ken Richardson is a phenomenal supporter of education. The fact that students' do not use their abilities, skills, and talents means to me that they are wasting their abilities, skills, and talents that God has given them, which is not a good thing to do with the gifts God has created in you. I can relate to my opinion because it has happened to me several of times. Throughout the video, Ken Richardson says many jokes, which I thought were funny yet very interesting to think about. I do agree with the fact that schools demolish creativity for students. In the future, I believe that schools will more able to make creativity better for students. Most students that I know love to be creative in everything they can do. Creativity is the most important thing in education because without it students cannot be imaginable with their thoughts and feelings. I highly agree that women have the ability to multitask more than men because my grandmother,my mother, my sister, and I multitask on a daily basis, especially my grandmother and my mother. I believe that our job is to better the education of children in the future so they would enhance a better than that of today's education. I believe that the education world will become better.

A Vision for 21st Century Learning
4.In this video, the main arguments were as follow:

21st Century Education

  1. Digital Technology
  2. Cons to Networking
  3. Instant Gratification
  4. Global Connectivity
Altogether, with the arguments included, this video was a summary on how to make children learn when in fact they do   not. The solution to this is to make educational games on computers and on gaming systems. In many classrooms, the children are just taking notes on what the teacher is lecturing about. Most classrooms barely use textbooks. When children are just sitting in class taking notes, they become bored, and come to the conclusion that school is not fun. But with educational games, the children will get incentive to play  and learn from the game. When I was little, I had a series of  CD games, such as KidSpeak (learn different languages) and Cluefinders (mainly different math skills). I played Cluefinders the most because I love games with a mystery behind them. Using learning games for children will give the children the incentive not to give up on their education. When I graduated from a junior community college, I was afraid to make the transition to the University of South Alabama because the college experience would be different. The reason why  I felt this way because the community college was smaller compared to the University of South Alabama, and because I had the feeling that the instructors for my classes would not like me. Most of the time, I define myself as a person that is judgmental because I judge people before I get to know them, which is not good.As of now, I am not the judgmental type of person.

Harness Your Students' Digital Smarts
5.In this video, I love the way the teacher gives her students the chance to teach for a day.I found it interesting when the terraform students taught the teacher how to terraform. The teacher uses different terminology everyday, which she expects her students to know what they mean.I strongly agree that students do better in classes when technology is involved through the class. In elementary school, I was type of student that did not do so well when it came to doing book work for homework and classwork. As I progressed my education, I became more technical based to my education, which is an accomplishment for me. I love to accomplish the goals I set for me. For awhile, my mindset is to get my education to help educate the future of the world. When I am at home, I try to help my little brother and little whenever they need help. Most of the times, they will go to our dad because they believe that our dad knows everything.Sometimes, our dad sends them to me when he does not know what to do in that subject.
